All of Grace explained much of how the Christian faith works. Spurgeon walks step-by-step how God calls us to Himself, points out where we have disobeyed Him (sin), and how God provides a way to restore that broken relationship. All of Grace fills in so many gaps that we often gloss over in today's theological presentations. ( Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2016 )
- 1.0 out of 5 stars from RWJ -- Abridged with glaring mistakes : I have an unabridged copy of this book. But this version is not only abridged, but it does not say that it is abridged, and yet it is a *poorly* abridged version with glaring mistakes. On page 10, for example, I found the following malformed sentence: 'He knows that "all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags," and, therefore the Lord Jesus did not come into the world to look after goodness and righteousness with him, and to bestow them upon persons who have none of them.' What does this misstatement mean, "the Lord Jesus did not come into the world to look after goodness and righteousness with him...?" Not only is that unintelligible, but it wrongly coveys the intent of the author's original and very clear sentence. The unacknowledged "abridged" version of this text mangles the truth of the original sentence made clear by C.H.S. In another place, I found the lowercase "i" used for the pronoun, "I". Moreover, this book is labeled as "copyright" material. But why copy uncopyrighted text, modify it with mistakes, and then copyright it? I do not recommend this book in its present version. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Joseph J.Adrian -- By Grace Are You Saved : The title of chapter three is 'God Justifies The Ungodly'.Spurgeon wonders if some are surprised at that statement.Romans 4:5a says that very thing-'To him that works not,but believes on him that justifies the ungodly...'.The grace of God is not for the righteous(that is those who are righteous in their own sight).God's salvation is not for those who are pure and holy,but it is for those who are ungodly(they are aware of their sinful condition and know that they need a Savior or they will perish).The beginning of God's saving work,in an individual's consciousness,makes them aware they are unclean before a holy God and they need to rescued from that state. But more importantly the content is uplifting, gospel centred and so important to read. The blurb says about how important this message is today and that cannot be overstated.
